Currently, he is pursuing a PhD in the area of Recommender Systems. He is from the beautiful &#8220;L\u00e4ndle&#8221; Vorarlberg. He was very actively involved in the Fachschaft Wirtschaftsinformatik (WINF) and the Student Union at TU Wien (HTU) and knows all the Ins and Outs of the faculty of Informatics.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bettina Kern<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:17% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1825\" height=\"2738\" src=\"https:\/\/fsdr.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/2023.04.13-STV-Doktorat-11.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1108 size-full\"\/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>Bettina is from the magnificent &#8220;Bodensee&#8221; in southern Germany. During her master&#8217;s degree in Psychology, she focused on data analysis and different data science-related topics. This paved the way to do her PhD in Data Science at the Faculty of Informatics.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nikolas Thelenberg<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:18% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"594\" height=\"763\" src=\"https:\/\/fsdr.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Niko-Bild-cropped-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1261 size-full\"\/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>Niko graduated from TU Berlin in Engineering Science and is now pursuing his PhD in Robotics. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lisa Geiginger<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:20% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1825\" height=\"2738\" src=\"https:\/\/fsdr.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/2023.04.13-STV-Doktorat-20.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1105 size-full\"\/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">Lisa Geiginger is a proper Vorarlbergerian girl who loves to spend her time \u201cuf da B\u00e4rg\u201d (on the mountains) going backcountry skiing or mountaineering. She is currently pursuing her PhD studies at the Institute of Telecommunications, working on robust machine learning (that means you\u2019ll have to thank her when your autonomous car doesn\u2019t crash right through a Stop sign). Being a social person, she\u2019ll have breakfast with you even if she\u2019d rather stay asleep and challenge you to a tough bouldering session after work. Camping trips through Italy or France give her a chance to live out her love for exquisite meals or drinks.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Johannes Steinbach<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:20% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"137\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/fsdr.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/steinbach.johannes-137x200-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-502 size-full\"\/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">Johannes aka Jayne is known as a long-served FET veteran. What sets him apart from other FSDr members is the fact that he is working at the Automation and Control Institute pondering the miracle of baking waffles. Besides a wide corpus of fascinating trivia, he is also known for sharing a lot of actually useful wisdom.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Colleagues formerly active in the Fachschaft Doktorat<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lukas Tarra<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">Lukas Tarra, born and raised in lower Austria, always had a strong connection to Vienna where he went to school and had his friends. He eventually moved here in 2015 to study Physics \u2013 which truly was kind of an accident because he seriously considered spending his days re-thinking ancient and extinct languages. Lukas seems to have a certain preference for countries who inhabit strong dialects because after finishing his master\u2019s degree in Edinburgh, Scotland, he intended to move to Switzerland for his PhD studies.&nbsp;Thank God the financing at CERN did not work out so Lukas could give all his (undividable) attention to the energy stabilization of laser pulses in the institute of automation and control at the faculty of electrical engineering. He contributes to the image of the institute not only with his expertise but also with his fancy and stylish clothing. Whenever Lukas is not working on his thesis or for the Fachschaft he likes to do Kickboxing &#8211; which is far better for his physical health than his previous passion Dodgeball.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Martin Meiringer<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:20% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"691\" height=\"789\" src=\"https:\/\/fsdr.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/madn.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-233 size-full\"\/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">After Martin received his Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering in 2016 he started working as a Doctoral Candidate at the Automation and Control Institute at the faculty of Electrical Engineering. During his study, Martin was involved in the study comission of electrical engineering and doing different jobs at the Fachschaft Elektrotechnik.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Matthias Steinb\u00f6ck<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:20% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"100\" height=\"125\" src=\"https:\/\/fsdr.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/ma.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-239 size-full\"\/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">Although I am a software engineer I worked on a design pattern catalog for digital card games at the HCI for my master&#8217;s thesis. I got interested in the field of psycho-informatics and currently try to find a precise research question in the field of motivation research, game studies, and human-computer interaction. During my studies at TU Wien, I&#8217;ve worked a lot to finance my living and founded three companies. Currently, I am returning to research and keeping the FSDR IT alive.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Georg Janisch<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:20% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"100\" height=\"125\" src=\"https:\/\/fsdr.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/gj.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-255 size-full\"\/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">Georg received his Master&#8217;s Degree in Electrical Engineering in 2019. Subsequently, he began his Doctoral studies at the Automation and Control Institute at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering investigating an electrical machine type for electric vehicles.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ulrich Knechtelsdorfer&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:20% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"100\" height=\"125\" src=\"https:\/\/fsdr.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/uk.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-262 size-full\"\/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">Ulrich received his Master&#8217;s Degree in Electrical Engineering in 2017. Subsequently, he began his Doctoral studies at the Automation and Control Institute at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering investigating rolling mills.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Jakob Maderthaner&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:20% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"100\" height=\"125\" src=\"https:\/\/fsdr.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/jm.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-265 size-full\"\/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">Jakob received his Master&#8217;s Degree in Electrical Engineering in 2017. Subsequently, he began his Doctoral studies at the Faculty of Technical Chemistry investigating sodium barrier layers.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Johannes Kalliauer<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:20% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"347\" height=\"520\" src=\"https:\/\/fsdr.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/JohannesKalliauer.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-274 size-full\"\/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">I studied my Master in civil engineering in 2016 at TU Wien and I have been in the Students Council of Civil Engineering. Now I am a university assistant at the Institute for Mechanics of Materials and Structures and working on my PhD in DNA<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Thomas Kiefer<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:20% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2051\" height=\"3073\" src=\"https:\/\/fsdr.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Thomas_Kiefer.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-277 size-full\"\/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">Thomas studied civil engineering at TU Wien, where he was already a member of the student council. Additionally, he worked on the tutorial project of the Federal Students Association. After having finished his studies he started as a project assistant at the Institute for Mechanics of materials and Structures, where he is currently working on modeling of brick structures on different length scales.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Christoph Fr\u00f6hlich<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:20% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"100\" height=\"150\" src=\"https:\/\/fsdr.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Froehlich_Christoph_150px.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-278 size-full\"\/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">He finished his master&#8217;s in Automation in the faculty of electrical engineering at TU Wien. During his time as a pregraduate student, he became involved in the student union and participated in improving the curricula of the bachelor and master programs of the faculty. His research is about controller and observer design in the steel industry. His research interest centers around mobile apps and dynamic mobile app interfaces within personal area networks. Now, I&#8217;m working on my dissertation doing research on the theory of inelastic electron scattering. The experimental part deals with the question &#8220;Whatever holds the world together in its inmost folds&#8221;. My experience as a student representative resulted in working as the vice head of the curricular commission for doctoral studies beginning in November 2011 and subsequently as the head of the commission between October 2012 and March 2014.
